Purpose RAMs are hydraulic tools used for pushing apart and staying two masses of material in order to create space for extrication of victims following vehicle crashes, earthquakes or rail and industrial accidents. They can be single or multistage (telescopic) and operated by hydraulic pumps which may be based on IC engine power or on hand/foot pumping.
